چکیده

Increasing microalgae carbohydrate content through nutrient limitation has been regarded as a potential strategy to optimize bioethanol production. This study assessed three different media in which nitrogen, phosphorus and sulfur concentration was decreased by 10-fold with regard the control media. The performance of two robust microalgae, namely Chlorella vulgaris Scenedesmus sp., were evaluated terms growth biochemical composition. At stationary phase, limited supported highest accumulation on respectively (approximately 4-fold). Under these scenarios, biomass did not exhibit arrested while its 10%. decrease attributed photosynthetic that concomitantly affected nutrients uptake. After 15 days cultivation, analysis revealed out total carbohydrates obtained under those (30% DW for 22% Scenedesmus), only 5% starch therefore main fraction contained cell wall. Likewise, profile presented fast changes short periods time importance an appropriate harvesting schedule obtain rich highlighted.

Differential Response of Green Algal Species Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Scenedesmus obliquus, Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa to Six Pesticides

This work examines the effects of six pesticides on five green algae: Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Scenedesmus obliquus, Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa. The results indicate that the decreasing order of the average toxicity to five algae was: fluazinam > propineb > maneb > mancozeb > zineb > bromoxynil octanoate. however, according to sensitivity magni...

Cultivation of Microalgae Chlorella sp. and Scenedesmus sp. as a Potentional Biofuel Feedstock

The growth of two robust algae strains Chlorella sp. and Scenedesmus sp. growing in Lithuanian lakes was investigated with the aim to obtain optimum conditions for biomass cultivation for biofuel production in the Lithuanian environment. Samples were taken from different nitrogen sources and of different concentrations, with addition of various concentrations of CO2 and in the presence of salt....

Parallel Nutrient Removal and Biogas Production by Chlorella Vulgaris Cultures

In aquatic environments, eutrophication causes algal blooms, oxygen depletion, increase in undesired vegetation, loss of plant beds, fish, coral reef and other species. Eventually, the water bodies become unavailable to utilize for agricultural, recreational, industrial and drinking purposes. Discharge of domestic sewage introducing high levels of nutrients to water bodies is one of the main ca...

Toxicity of nanoZnO in Daphnia magna fed with ZnO containing Chlorella vulgaris and Scenedesmus dimorphus algae

Nano ZnO is currently used in the rubber, electronics, electrical appliances, enamel, cosmeticsand medical industry. Whereas most studies have used the ecological toxicity of nanoparticles, the toxic effects of nanoparticles in diet is not extensively explored. Because the algaeare at the base of the food chain, any change in their density, biomass and population, wouldaffect the food chain in ...
